Park Guidelines

Hillside Park is owned and operated by the community, which means we all share responsibility for keeping it clean. Please “leave only footprints” behind when you go.

  • The trees in Hillside Park are for the birds and squirrels and all kinds of animals, but not for the humans. Keep your feet on the ground.
  • The park is open from dawn to dusk. After dark, it’s the animals’ turn to play.
  • Bring food from home (or a nearby eatery!) and take your trash home. Chefs, take a break.
  • Pee before you come because we don’t have restrooms.
  • Bikes, balloons, confetti, and weapons of any kind are better left at home. Bike to the park but then park it and go for a stroll.
  • Smoking, alcohol, and loud music are all things you can enjoy elsewhere, not at Hillside Park.
  • Pets on leashes are welcomed. Bring a poop bag with you and take it home too. Please abide by the rules regarding Dogs in the Park.
  • Ick, ticks. They live in grassy, brushy, and wooded areas, including Hillside Park. You can find CDC guidance for avoiding tick bites here and for removing ticks here.

Visiting Hillside Park with your leashed dog? That’s great!
There are a few rules in place to help everyone enjoy their time and stay safe.

Hillside Park, like all common green spaces throughout the neighborhood, is subject to Baltimore City dog rules and regulations, meaning that dogs must always be under the control of their owners and leashed, and they must have a Baltimore City pet license and rabies vaccination. In addition, dogs must not dig, chase, or harm wildlife, damage park property, or interfere with other park users. Please always clean up after your dog, taking poop bags with you when you go.

We appreciate your thoughtfulness and consideration as we work together to keep Hillside Park a safe space for all who use it!

If you find a lost dog or if your dog is missing, please contact 3-1-1 / Baltimore City Animal Services.

If you are ever subjected to volatile, hostile, or aggressive actions and words while you are visiting Hillside Park, please call 9-1-1.
